ANGELA HANCOCK

She/Her

Angela teaches FRESH HIIT Step. An innovative HIIT exercise class using only bodyweight and a step. All of Angela’s classes are super fun, high energy and full of motivation and laughter.

It's a privilege to be part of someone else's fitness journey, especially when there are so many options to choose from, so when you come to a session with me, it's all about YOU:  YOUR workout, at YOUR level.  I will push you hard - in the best way possible - but you will leave my sessions feeling energised, empowered and ready for anything.

MAD Credentials

With more than 25 years experience as an instructor, I have always loved the energy of group fitness classes - there's something about working with a group towards a common goal.  You'll get hot and sweaty in my classes, but you'll be having so much fun, you won't notice the effort.

Angela Loves

I have a large online community of women that I work with to achieve their health and wealth goals through nutrition and mindset.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing other women push through barriers and break through their comfort zones.  And apart from my amazing family, I love dogs ... I cannot walk past a dog without saying hello and stroking it (if the owner allows).  My dream is to have a dog sanctuary for fur babies that may be between homes or in need of some love and attention.

Angela’s Well-Being Tip

As a hypnotherapist and NLP pracitioner, anyone that comes to my classes will know how much I believe in the power of the mind, words and self-talk.  I always tell my class to say things like: "I am powerful, I am strong, I got this, I can do this" during my sessions, particularly when it starts to get tough.  I think this applies in all areas of life ... what you say to yourself matters, so if you find yourself in a tight spot ... breath and repeat: "I am powerful, I am strong, I got this, I can do this".

Angela’s Journey - In her words.

Having been a fitness leader for over 25 years, I have had the privilege of being part of many people’s journey’s to fitness.  It’s an honour which I never take lightly and to this day, no matter how I feel outside the studio, I aim to give 110% in the studio and create a “can do” space which makes people feel seen, special and empowered. I’m also a certified Integrated Hypnotherapist and very much in tune with the mind body connection.    This is why teaching fitness brings me so much joy - seeing clients step into their power: it’s the change in the strut, the confidence, from hiding in the back to standing in the front and then seeing them nurture other people who are new to the class.

Most people start coming to classes to create a physical change, their focus is on losing weight or building muscle, but they totally underestimate the full extent of what can happen: the mental change that they can potentially achieve if they learn to embrace the process.  It’s this mental change that is crucial when looking to create lasting and sustainable, long term habits which become non-negotiable and form the basis for lifelong wellness.   The benefits of coming to the studio extend way past the 45 minutes and can positively impact every area of someone’s life.  Exercise is the catalyst to better relationships, not just with others, but most importantly, with yourself.

I always aim to challenge clients in one of my classes, so that when they leave they feel accomplished, maybe even surprised at how much they are capable of.  Yes, it is a fine line between pushing someone so they feel good about themselves and pushing them to the point that they feel defeated, which is of course, counterproductive, so I always encourage people to work at their own level and focus on what they are doing, not anyone else.

Even though Fresh has the friendliest and most welcoming vibe, you won’t know it until you’ve actually come in, and that is the part which can be daunting.  So if you are walking into a studio for the first time, rest assured you will be made to feel welcome and comfortable.   I’ll always tell my clients to give themselves a pat on the back for being in the class too, especially when there are 101 other things that they could be doing instead.  When you're new or just starting out, getting into the room is often much harder than the actual workout: that conversation in your head can often be brutal: rest assured, you are good enough, you will be able to do it and no-one is going to laugh at you.

So, if you are just starting out on your fitness journey, my advice would be to try as many different classes as possible until you find something that you ENJOY.  Fitness is meant to be FUN!!!  Don’t take yourself too seriously and give yourself time to get used to the movements and the teacher.

Sometimes it can take a few sessions, but everyone starts at the beginning.

Leading on from this, never compare yourself to other people in the class; your beginning is not the same as their middle - they say that comparison is the thief of joy for a reason - stay focussed on you.

And whilst it’s you against you, remember to CELEBRATE your progress, no matter how small, slow or insignificant it may seem to you, progress is progress and it’s important to acknowledge and appreciate all your gains because what you focus on multiplies.

In my sessions, we leave our “can’ts” at the door and adopt a “can do / will try” attitude … it opens up a whole world of possibility.  Just because you couldn’t do a press up yesterday, doesn’t mean you won’t be able to do one today ….

Finally, learn to love and accept yourself exactly as you are right now … you cannot hate yourself into a stronger / leaner / better body or state of mind.    It is only when you are truly accepting and appreciative of yourself in your entirety - warts and all - that you can expect to achieve lasting and lifelong wellness.
